The calendar says Spring, but that didn’t matter to Melody, my eDesign client who was looking for the perfect shade of harvest orange for her foyer.  Melody just purchased a new home in Nashville, and although she still has many design decisions to make, she knew one thing for sure:  she wanted her new home to greet her family and friends with a warm welcome.  Needless to say, she had orange on her mind.  She also wanted complementary colors for her kitchen and living room (one open space that overlooked the pool in the backyard).

Melody had already started looking at different oranges, but I concluded that they all would have been too bright and childlike for the space.  I advised Melody to go with an orange that was more toned down and a bit rusty, so it would create a more grown-up feel that was pleasing to the eye.  Here is the inspiration board I created for her, followed by my suggested paint colors (as you can see, I also added turquoise accents so that the finished look would tie in with the home’s view of the pool).

My color picks are from Benjamin Moore: Harvest Moon, Silver Fox, Jackson Tan & Decorator’s White

At last check, Melody had already painted her foyer and she is well on her way to having a warm, chic and inviting new home!
